AirPods are blinking green after pairing, but they are not connected to any device.

If you are facing this issue, there can be two reasons: either your iPhone is not connecting to your Airpods after turning Bluetooth ON, or your AirPods need an update. So, try out both the methods below, which might work for you.

Solution 1

Check if your iPhone is connected to your AirPods or not. If yes, move to Solution 2; if not, try connecting them with an Android phone (if you have one) and see how it works for you.

If pairing succeeds on another device (which means the issue lies within the Bluetooth functionality of your iPhone), contact Apple Support or take it to a service center, where they will definitely fix this problem.

Solution 2

Make sure that there’s no update pending in your settings app and that you are all up-to-date regarding the iOS version and security patches using Settings –> General –> Software Update.

You can also ensure that there’s no update required for your AirPods by going to the same section and checking the version.

You can install an update by tapping on Download and Install if an update is available. In case you don’t see any updates in this menu, go ahead with these steps:

Solution 3

Go to Settings –> Bluetooth and forget all devices that are listed under Paired Devices until your iPhone stops scanning these devices in the list of available Bluetooth devices.

Once done, pair them again, one after another, using the Bluetooth setting. This has been a great solution for many users who have had this problem with their Airpods before.

AirPods blinking green while listening to music or podcasts on your iPhone

If your AirPods are blinking green, there can be two reasons: either you need to disconnect and reconnect them again to fix this issue, or they need an update. So, try out both the solutions which might work for you.

Solution 1

You can disconnect and connect them again by putting them in the case and opening it after a couple of seconds (without removing them from your ears).

This will make them disconnect from the Bluetooth device (in this case, your iPhone) and establish a new connection with that device again.

AirPods are blinking green while trying to use Siri

what you will have to do if your Airpods are blinking green when using Siri on your iPhone/iPad –

Solution 1

If you are using an iOS device, then update the software by navigating to Settings -> General -> Software Update and tapping on Download and Install, which is visible at the bottom under the Update section. This has been a great solution for many users who have had this problem, so there’s no harm in updating your phone.

Solution 2

Switch off the Hey Siri feature, which is available in iOS devices that supports iOS version 10 and above. Many users in the past have cited this solution, so you can try it out if your Airpods are not responding to Siri at all, even after updating the iOS version on your device.

Solution 3

Reset Network Settings completely, and then pair your iPhone with your AirPods again. This method has also worked for many people in the past, which is why I am suggesting this solution, although it’s not as simple as other methods.

Follow these steps if you want to reset network settings – Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Tap on ‘Reset Network Settings and enter the passcode when prompted (if there’s one set), tap on ‘Erase All Content and Settings, enter the passcode again when prompted.

AirPods are blinking green even after resetting network settings on iPhone

Solution 1

Go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Scroll down and tap on the ‘i’ icon next to your AirPods ↯ icon.

Solution 2

Reset all the settings, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc, by navigating to Settings –> General –> Reset from the available list of options under this menu.

Solution 3

Unpair or Delete your Airpods from the device you are using them on (iPhone/iPad) and then Pair them with that device once again. This can sometimes solve connectivity issues, so give it a try before moving on to other solutions here.

Solution 4

Go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Scroll down and tap on ‘i’ icon next to your AirPods ↯ icon.

Solution 5:

Put the case near your iPhone and open it. This will make them power up again, which might fix the blinking green issue for you.

If none of these methods worked, try using your Airpods without their charging case by powering them up by connecting only one charge cable to a USB port/computer. Or any other device that can provide the required current (via USB-C port) so you get rid of all the issues related to battery life.

My AirPods are not detected by my iPhone/ iPad when I put them in my ears.

If your AirPods are not getting detected by the device, then there can be multiple reasons for that. Let’s start with some basic troubleshooting and try to see if we can fix it.

Solution 1

Checking connectivity on both devices (iPhone and AirPods). Make sure you remain close enough (within 5-6 feet) of your iPhone so they connect seamlessly every time you put them in your ears.

Solution 2

Put them back into their charging case and press down on the case until you hear a chime that indicates that they have been paired successfully with your iPhone. Now remove them from the case and use them as usual.

Solution 3

Reset Network Settings completely, and then pair your iPhone with your AirPods again.

Solution 4

Try using them without the case by powering them up via connecting only one charge cable to a USB port/computer or any other device that can provide the required current (via USB-C port).

Airpods are not detected on MacBook/MacBook Pro

If you’re trying to pair your Airpods with a Mac, check if they have been connected to any other device. If so, unpair them from that device and try pairing it with the Mac again.

This problem should be fixed now as Apple has acknowledged it and solved it in macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update. You can read more about this problem here – Fix for macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Update Regarding AirPods Detection Issue on Mac.

My Airpods are not connecting to my iPhone/ iPad when I put them in my ears, even though they have been connected before

In this case, the best way is to reset all the settings to get a clean slate and start from scratch with your Apple devices. You’ll have to go through the steps we listed above under ‘ Fix 6 – My AirPods are not detected by my iPhone’ and then follow these steps for resetting settings:

Navigate to Settings -> General -> Reset and select “Reset All Settings” and enter the passcode if prompted (if there’s one set), tap on ‘Erase All Content and Settings and again enter the passcode if there’s one (if you have set).

This process will delete all your app data, preferences, network settings, etc that might be causing this problem. Once it is done, try connecting your AirPods to your iPhone without their case or connect them via the USB port on a computer/laptop, as we mentioned above for Fix 6.

My AirPods don’t start playing automatically after I put them in my ears.

This can happen when you open an app connected to Bluetooth devices like a music player/radio on your iPhone. So, make sure you close those apps completely before removing AirPods from your ears, wait for 10 seconds to disconnect automatically, and then try connecting them again.

My AirPods are not pairing with my iPhone/iPad when I take them out of their case

Some users have reported that they are facing this problem after removing Airpods from their charging case without pressing the button on the back, which turns off Bluetooth connectivity to prevent battery drain. Try following the below-mentioned steps to fix it.

Solution 1

Press and hold the circular button on your Airpod’s charging case until you see a white light blinking slowly between earbuds. This indicates that Bluetooth is turned off for AirPods.

Now, remove both Airpods from your case and put them back into the ears/charge cable separately one by one while both devices (iPhone/iPad) are in pairing mode (Airpods case has to be powered ON).

Solution 2

Make sure you press the button on the back of the charging case after putting the Airpods back into it. This will turn off Bluetooth connectivity and prevent battery drain.

Now, remove both earbuds from your charging case again one by one and put them back into the ears/charge cable separately, depending on whether you’re connecting the left or right side first.

Steps for connecting just one Airpod

If only one Airpod is connected, it’ll automatically connect with the iPhone when taken out of the ears or charged via a cable plugged into a USB/USB-C port on a computer/laptop/car charger if powered ON.

While the other Airpod is in the ears, press the circular button on the back of the charging case to turn off Bluetooth connectivity and put it back into the charging case.

Now, remove just one Airpod from your ear/charging case and put it back again. This time only one Airpod will connect with the iPhone automatically as it’s already connected to the iOS device before, so now you can use this newly connected single AirPod without putting back the other one.

After upgrading iOS to High Sierra 10.13, my Airpods are not detected by my iPhone.

Apple has released a fix for this issue: Fix Relating to Some Customers Unable to Hear Sound or Distorted Audio While Using Their AirPods After Grading Their IOS Device To A Newer Version in which they mention that a fix will be available in the next software update for Airpods.

I am unable to connect both of my AirPods at the same time with iPhone 7/7+.

Some users have reported this problem after upgrading their iPhones from iOS 10 or below to iOS 11 via OTA or iTunes.

If your iPhone is already on iOS 11, try updating your AirPods and restarting both devices (iPhone and AirPods) again, and it should start working fine.

If you haven’t updated your iPhone yet, do it now so you can get this new feature, “Tap To Wake,” which wakes up the Apple Watch display by tapping on it instead of rotating the crown.

My AirPods are not recognized by any device/Bluetooth speaker/Car Bluetooth radio etc.

You should try connecting your Airpods to another iOS or Mac device running the latest software versions if possible. If they work fine on other devices, then it’s a hardware issue that you can get fixed under warranty from Apple Support.

If they don’t work on any device, you may have a faulty pair and need to contact Apple support for replacement/repair. You can also reset them using the below-mentioned steps if nothing helps.

Steps for resetting your AirPods

Connect your charging case with a power supply so that its LED lights up in between earbuds present inside the case. Now, remove both earbuds from the case and press & hold the ‘connect’ button on the back of the case for at least 15 seconds.

Now, put both earbuds back into the charging case so that the LED blinks orange instead of white. This will reset your AirPods. Now, try connecting them to another device to see if they work fine.

Apple Airpods do not work with a specific Bluetooth speaker/audio device.

If you’re experiencing issues while connecting Airpods to a Bluetooth audio device, open the Settings app again and go to the Bluetooth section.

Toggle Bluetooth ON/OFF here and wait until it’s turned off automatically OR restart your iPhone before turning AirPods Bluetooth ON again inside Settings > Bluetooth menu. If this method doesn’t work for you, try resetting your Airpods to solve this issue completely.

Steps for resetting earphones

Connect your charging case with the power supply so that its LED blinks White. Now, remove both AirPods from the case and press & hold the ‘connect’ button on the back of the case for at least 15 seconds until the LED light becomes orange instead of white.

Now put both AirPods back into the case, which should be reset now. Now, try connecting them to another device/audio Bluetooth speaker to see if it’s working fine as expected.

Apple Airpods are awesome, there is no doubt about that. They look magnificently futuristic, and the convenience of having wireless headphones makes them great.

But even though Apple’s offering has been steadily improving since its release, some people are still experiencing issues with their devices. Some of these are pretty random, but one problem seems to be consistent across all sources:

Airpods blinking green means Bluetooth connection is not connected or cannot connect

Causes for Airpods blinking green

As we mentioned before, there can be many causes for your Airpods flashing the green light instead of the white one. The most common ones include the following:

Unresponsive touch controls (if you have gloves, for example) Poor Bluetooth connection (move closer to your device) Battery life is low Airpods are not yet paired with the device, Low signal on Bluetooth connection

Fixes for Airpods blinking green

Here are some simple steps you can take to try and fix this problem. They might not be 100% effective, but they will definitely help you in most cases.

Reboot your device or restart Airpods, Switch Bluetooth view/airplane mode off and on, Turn Siri On/Off Toggle, W1 Chip, Reset your iPad / iPhone, Delete Apple Watch Pairing from all devices, Check Apple Watch software update, Verify the manufacturing date on both Airpod pieces If all of these fail to work – send it back for repair.

Conclusion

"AirPods

I’m not sure why this is the case, but it appears that Apple needs time for their W1 chip to handle device handshaking/pairing before they are fully functional.

They probably have some Bluetooth connection to your iPhone the whole time during the bootup process, then finally disconnect once everything is set up properly.
